Without a home, nothing else can heal.
More than 117 million people have been forced from their homes by war and disaster. (illustrative — to be confirmed) Behind that number is a family wintering in a tent, a child doing homework by candlelight in a roofless ruin, a mother lying awake against the cold.
Everything else rests on shelter. Give a family four walls and a door that locks, and they can keep the children warm, store food and medicine, and start to think past the next night. A tent can't offer that. A real home can.
CBB Canada works through local builders and community leaders we trust, so each family gets what it actually needs. That might be a winterised shelter tonight, repairs to a house that's still standing, or a new home built to last a generation.

What's the difference between a shelter, a repair and a rebuild?
It comes down to what a family needs. A shelter (a tent or winterised unit) is immediate protection that saves lives. A repair fixes a home that's damaged but still standing, like a new roof, doors or windows. A rebuild is a whole new home for a family whose house was destroyed. Our local teams decide which one fits.
How quickly can a family be sheltered?
In active crisis zones, emergency tents and winter shelter kits can reach a family within days of funding. Repairs usually take a few weeks. A full rebuild takes a few months, depending on access, materials and how safe the area is.
Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes. CBB Canada is a registered Canadian charity and issues official tax receipts for every eligible donation, so you can claim your gift come tax season.
Can I give a home in memory of a loved one?
Of course. A rebuilt home makes a lasting tribute. Just add a dedication at checkout, and wherever it's safe to do so, we'll include the family and location in your completion report.
