Millions of refugee and displaced families spend the coldest months of the year in thin canvas tents, half-built rooms and shelters with no heating. In the camps of northern Syria and the highlands of Afghanistan, temperatures drop far below freezing. For a young child, an elderly grandparent or someone already sick, that cold is often deadly.
Winter Care steps in before the worst hits. We put warm blankets, thermal clothing, sturdy boots, heating fuel and shelter-proofing materials in place ahead of time, so families are covered the moment the cold arrives, not weeks after a child has already fallen ill.
We work through local teams who know each camp and community by name. They make sure your gift reaches the families most at risk, fast, and with the dignity every person deserves on the hardest nights of the year.

Local teams walk each camp and community before winter, finding the families most exposed to the cold.
Step 02
Prepare
We source and pack blankets, thermal clothing, boots and fuel, then stage it all close to where it's needed.
Step 03
Deliver
Convoys go straight to tents, shelters and remote villages, so warmth lands before the first hard freeze.
Step 04
Winterise
We seal and insulate shelters and top up fuel, keeping families covered through the whole season.

Questions we hear a lot.
When do winter supplies go out?
We deliver before winter takes hold, starting in late autumn as the first cold weather rolls in. That way families are covered from the very first freeze, not after the season has already done its damage. Distribution carries on through the coldest months.
Where does Winter Care reach?
We work in eight countries where displaced and refugee families face the harshest winters: Syria, Afghanistan, Türkiye, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Pakistan and Bangladesh. We start with people living in tents and unheated shelters.
Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes. CBB Canada is a registered Canadian charity and issues official tax receipts for all eligible donations.
How do you decide which families get help first?
Our local teams look at who's at greatest risk: families with young children, elderly relatives or someone who's sick, living in the most exposed shelters. The people most likely to suffer in the cold are reached first.
