Children learning in a CBB Canada-supported classroom
Why Education

Around 250 million children are still out of school.

Behind that number are real kids. Poverty, conflict or sheer distance keeps them home, and more often than not it's the girls who are told to stay back. Every year away from a classroom is a year of what they could have been, quietly gone.

CBB Canada works alongside local communities to clear those barriers one at a time. We build and fix safe classrooms, hand out books and uniforms, train and pay good teachers, and fund scholarships that carry bright students all the way through.

Education is one of the few gifts that keeps paying off. A child who can read earns more, stays healthier and raises healthier kids of her own. We don't know a surer way out of poverty.

The roots of education are bitter, but the fruit is sweet.

How it works

A seat today. A future for life.

We do more than drop off supplies. Our four-step approach is built to keep kids in school and moving forward.

  1. Step 01

    Identify

We sit down with local leaders to find the kids most likely to miss out, and to learn what's actually keeping them away.

  2. Step 02

    Equip

Safe classrooms, books, uniforms and clean facilities clear away the everyday things that push children out.

  3. Step 03

    Teach

We train and back qualified local teachers. A great teacher is what makes a school last.

  4. Step 04

    Sustain

Scholarships, meals and family support keep learners enrolled year after year, right through to graduation.

Common Questions

Questions we hear a lot.

How do you make sure girls aren't left out?
Girls run into extra hurdles: the walk to school, safety, cost, and what families expect of them. We answer each one. Safe classrooms close to home, female teachers where we can find them, separate facilities, and scholarships set aside for girls. Most of our scholarship students today are girls.
Does my gift just buy supplies, or something that lasts?
Both. Supplies get a child in the door now, but the real aim is keeping that door open. Trained teachers, permanent classrooms and scholarships that continue mean the chance doesn't vanish when the term ends.
Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes. CBB Canada is a registered Canadian charity and issues official tax receipts for eligible donations.
Can I dedicate a classroom or scholarship to someone?
Of course. A classroom or a child's schooling makes a lasting tribute. Add a dedication at checkout and we'll include it in the completion report we send you.
