About the role

CBB Canada is a registered Canadian charity working to improve lives through humanitarian assistance, sustainable development, education, food security, and community empowerment. As our work grows in Canada and internationally, we are looking for an experienced leader to strengthen the operational foundation that makes that work possible. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director, Administration & Operations provides leadership across finance, human resources, administration, governance, information technology, risk management, and compliance. This is a senior leadership role for someone who combines operational discipline with strategic thinking, and who wants to help build the systems that allow a growing charity to deliver lasting impact with transparency and accountability.

What you'll do

  • Lead CBB Canada's administration, operations, and corporate services functions.
  • Develop and implement organizational policies, procedures, and administrative systems.
  • Oversee finance administration, budgeting, and operational reporting.
  • Support the Executive Director in developing annual operating plans and budgets.
  • Ensure compliance with CRA requirements, the Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act, employment legislation, privacy legislation, and internal policies.
  • Coordinate organizational audits and support financial reporting requirements.
  • Lead HR functions including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, training, and policy implementation.
  • Oversee procurement, contracts, facilities, insurance, and asset management.
  • Coordinate Board meetings, maintain corporate records, and support Board-approved priorities.
  • Develop and maintain risk management and business continuity systems, identifying operational risks and recommending practical mitigation strategies.
  • Oversee IT systems, cybersecurity, and organizational databases.
  • Produce operational dashboards and reports for the Executive Director and Board, and monitor KPIs to recommend improvements.
  • Contribute to strategic planning, annual operational planning, and policy development as a member of the senior leadership team.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, learning, inclusion, and continuous improvement across all departments.

What you'll bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Commerce, Human Resources, Nonprofit Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive management experience.
  • Minimum 3 years leading multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong financial literacy and budget management experience.
  • Experience supporting Boards and governance processes.
  • Excellent project management, communication, and report-writing skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a growing organization.
  • Strong commitment to CBB Canada's mission, vision, and values.

Nice to have

  • Experience within the charitable, humanitarian, or international development sector.
  • Experience with QuickBooks or Sage, Microsoft 365, SharePoint, and CRM or HRIS systems.
  • Experience in partnership development and stakeholder relationship management.
